custom Furniture
During July 2014 I experimented with my own furniture business. I
observed that much furniture in Australia is often discarded within
10 years. From this finding I created the core concept behind my
furniture brand.
Furniture that is designed to stand the test of time.To achieve this I set three main objectives.
The furniture must be of simple style that won’t age
It must use recycled materials
Furniture must be able to be restored and maintained
I found a steady source of recycled hardwood flooring and realised that steel is a material that can be easily recoated many times over. In order for easy disassembly all components were bolted or screwed.
Although this project was brief, I still use much of the design-for-repair mentality today.
